The island's landscape has been shaped by volcanic processes, and there are several active and dormant volcanoes. This volcanic activity has contributed to the island's rugged terrain and fertile soil, highly favorable for the cultivation of high-quality vanilla pods.
Vanilla planifolia is the primary species cultivated in Flores Island. Known for its rich, creamy and sweet flavor with notes of caramel and chocolate, this one has floral undertones too adding complexity with hints of orchid and tropical flowers, fruity such as cherry or plum, with a pinch of spices and woody notes of cinnamon and oak providing depth to its flavor.
