Flores Island is part of the Indonesian archipelago located in the Pacific Ring of Fire — a region known for its high volcanic and activity —  volcanic by nature. The island's landscape has been shaped by volcanic processes, and there are several active and dormant volcanoes. This volcanic activity has contributed to the island's rugged terrain and fertile soil, highly favorable for the cultivation of high-quality vanilla pods.

 

Vanilla planifolia is the primary species cultivated in Flores Island. Known for its rich, creamy and sweet flavor with notes of caramel and chocolate, this one has floral undertones too adding complexity with hints of orchid and tropical flowers, fruity such as cherry or plum, with a pinch of spices and woody notes of cinnamon and oak providing depth to its flavor.

 

The unique combination of climate, soil, and growing techniques on Flores Island contribute to the distinct characteristics of its vanilla pods, making them a sought-after ingredient among chef(fe)s and vanilla lovers.

 

Indicative pod length: 16–20 cm; as a natural product, pod length, width and individual weight may vary from pod to pod; the stated quantity corresponds to the exact number of pods in the lot sold; the exact net weight is stated separately when packed and invoiced. A kilo is about 250 pods.
